2009

Another year has come and gone. I wonder if its because we're all so busy with our works, but time seem to have upgraded its own speed to double what I used to feel back then in secondary school. Every year seem long back then, and now, if you're not careful, you might pass another year in your life without doing anything significant.

2009 is quite a topsy turvy year for me. There were some random and unexpected events happening here and then, there's also some great and superb memories to be added into the memory album up there in my brain.

March 2009 is really one month I'll never forget. 21st March is the day I got my beloved Honda City, it was also the day it got banged by my salesman into the showroom door, on left and right side of my car. So all in all, my car was damaged before I even got it into my hands! I still am a bit speechless till today about this "memorable" event. Probably I'll be speechless bout this till I die, unless someone else tells me bout how their salesman manage to dump their brand new car from showroom to a nearby ditch, then I'll shup up for the rest of my life about this accident.

Then comes summer of 2009, where most of our Kepong gang members residing at foreign countries return to Malaysia not to reunite with family, but to eat char kuey teows, nasi lemak, Manjalara grilled chicken wings, play pool and gather with friends. Some returned late, some early.

And so we gathered as usual at Spicy, and exchanges rapid fire news across from UK to Kepong to Semenyih and PJ. Some people were missing as well from these gatherings, namely Aaron and Tsi Ngar. Haha. We're still waiting for him to fly back to us.

No summer is complete without a grand outing with the Kepong gang members. This summer, we initially planned to go some island on the east coast, like beautiful white sand beached Redang Island or Lang Tengah. We even thought of going to Sabah, but Voon Yuan beat us to it by going with his UK mates. So in the end, we settled for Sungkai Hot Spring in Perak, thanks to Yiew Wen's suggestion.

Sungkai definitely left me with a memorable 2009 summer. Our closest to complete Kepong gang outing ever since secondary eras. Attendance includes Yiew Wen, Ai Woon, Zhen Khai, Voon Yuan, Jacklyn, Kim Hung and me. The trip also includes gf/bfs of our gang member, which includes Sue Lynn and Han Sin =) Missing gang members were Aaron, then residing in Langkawi to fly some planes and Tsi Ngar, who just couldn't make it in time for the trip. Hopefully next trip they'll be able to join us.

This is the place where I developed some steamboat phobia. We had steamboat for dinner, supper and all the way to breakfast for the next morning. Then we also played angels and demon in the wet wet pool in our villa, in which...Mo Kim Hung was so busy texting some Perak girls he didn't bother talking in the game, but rather jumping in and out of the pool to grab his phone all the time. Wet hands + an electronic device as fragile as a phone is a bad combo Kim Hung. His phone in the end got shot! It sort of went cuckoo due to water entering the keypad. Sad case for him. It also lead to him drying his phone with the hair dryer...hahaha.

Next, come a great news! ( I can't remember, if this comes first or Sungkai first) I was informed by our Nottingham staffs I was approved for UK exchange study programme!!! I was very happy as my results is definitely off the mark to join the programme. This news realised my dream of going to UK. It is my favourite country in the whole world, with great football, transport, all english speaking.

Not long after, come the frenzy of preparation for everything I need to bring over to UK. Documents, clothings, food, stationaries and the other neccessities. After that, we had plenty of tea sessions at either Spicy or Murni to ask two fellow members at UK on what is needed. One always tells you what should be brought while the other tells you "There's everything in UK".

Within a blink of an eye, comes September, Yiew Wen and Tsi Ngar were gone for almost two weeks, and its my turn to fly. Final meetings with extended family members were in procedure. I still remember how it feels. At first, it was a great bubbly joyous feel inside me when I knew I am going to UK. After a while it subsided, and I just felt normal, then, I'm starting to feel split. Part of me does not want to leave Malaysia, part of me shouting out, "I'm going!!!"

But I relented and I flew towards a totally foreign country, fate unknown.
We arrived safely, and soon settled down.

Soon came December, almost the end of another half great half sad year. I still manage to grab some time off studies to do a final big journey to Austria and Budapest, Hungary with my fellow housemates. All in all, that was another great adventure in my life, experiencing many new things on the horizon, a different european country, real skiing experience and many more. Tiring it might be, but it is worth it.

Landing back in UK, I headed straight for London, where I regrouped with the Kepong gang again for a Christmas reunion. Where you lost a friend, you shall gain a new friend. And this time, we lost Tsi Ngar to exam, but we gained Chai Earn from Bristol. Hehe. Made some 7 star dinner, beating many restaurants and hotels in London. We had (this is over a few days)
Bak Kut Teh
steamed fish
home roasted char siew
duck confit spaghetti (10 stars dish)
roast chicken
white wine mussels (Ai Woon's babies)
steamboat
fruit pie, honeydew sago, teh tarik, caesar salad, butternut squash soup,. I hope I didn't left out any great dishes there.

Then another Boxing day in my life, where I bought plenty of stuffs, though still ultimately failed to beat Ai Woon the shopping queen.

Finally, its time to return to reality, and my day came on the 27th, when I finally return to Nottingham to continue on my studies.

And so, I shall end my year 2009 with Differential equations and other materials for exams. Today, will be the first time I'm counting down with my friends over Skype.

Happy New Year all! =D

Just got back from Austria yesterday. Landed around 12pm UK time. It was really a great trip! First time seeing snow, experienced heavy snow, experienced a "real skiing" from the mountain top. There's too much!!!

But it was tiring. I slept early yesterday, around 12am. And slept till 9am the next morning. Ok, I know 9am is freaking early? But thats late for my trips in Austria and Hungary. Because its winter season, the night sets in at roughly 4.30pm. If you haven't covered anything that is worth seeing in the day, you gotta push it to the next day. So it sort of became my routine to sleep early (bye 12am) and wake up early too (at 6 or 7am)

Still not back home yet, now resting in Voon Yuan's house. Preparing for London's Boxing Day on the 26th. Gotta fight with lots of nationalities to get to a shirt worth 5 pounds! Damn! And the queues!!! Longer than Great Wall of China! Too bad for NASA they never zoomed in on Oxford Street in UK on the 26th. Should be interesting.

This year its colder in UK. London snowed heavily the moment I landed. We (Voon Yuan, Ai Woon, Brian & me) even got to play some snowballs!!! The snow here is a bit wet, therefore making it easier to form a solid snowball. And getting hit by one in close range is painful, depending on [Geek Mode On] the velocity, the vector position at aiming, throwing and landing, mass of snowball, pull of gravity, g, power produced in the arm of thrower, force exerted by the hand on the snowball, etc etc. Hahaha. But its nice to play snowball in summary. Voon Yuan tried too hard to attack, but his hand can't take the cold of touching snow with bare hands, ending up with his hands bleeding. Hahaha.

Can't wait to get back to Nottingham, where I can finally post about Hungary and Austria. Merry Christmas to all in the mean time =D
H1N1

Just now I just went to Facebook to chill out a while after a long night of report raping session. I can't believe what I saw. This is what is written on my medical friend's status :

"published in canadian medical journal: public health officials must come up with SCARIER names for viruses in order to frighten people into taking preventive health measures. "H1N1 sounds like the name of an income tax form or a robot that might hang out with R2D2 in Star Wars," said researchers."

Omg...R2D2 has a new friend??!?!?!?! Can't imagine if they decide to go hang out together at 1U...
Dedicating My Holiday

Its near the end of the term. Everyone is not yet slacking, but close to the point. Pharmacy department people are already partying (I think) because their holiday started.

I think somehow unconciously I've decided to dedicate my term holiday to the Computer Lab in my school. Here I am, still stuck here doing my lab report eventhough its already 7pm. =( These past few weeks has been like that -.- I think this com lab has been my main home instead of that shack where I slept everynight.

There will be more camping here later on after today. Hohoho.

Home sweet home =)
Lost Motivation

Hi people, I've received comments on my lack of updates earlier from a "friend". Hahaha. Very sorry. There were few reasons why I couldn't blog as much as last time. Of course, I myself think my blog is getting less interesting, with the lack of ideas, lack of photos. Haih, I'm sad for it too. To think of last time, when I was always very enthusiastic bout blogging.I could just write without needing the "moment!". Now everytime that "moment!" is gone, I probably won't bother bout that half-done post anymore. Its like recently my taste for food has gone from hard boiled egg to soft boiled egg, hot cocoa to lukewarm cocoa drink. Shit!!! What went wrong??

This is real ok!!! Not purposely done to show you I do work!!!

Getting busier? I think that's just my excuse. Hahaha. Who is not busy? But last few weeks is really horrible. I think it was about 6 courseworks to be submitted in 2 week's time. Pressure pressure. Hahahaha.

Putting that aside...I've been selected as Nottingham University Malaysia Society's Malaysian Night 2010 committee member. Meeting was close to daily. As if meeting coursework deadline is not enough, this comes at the same time. But then again, I'm quite glad now to be selected, because I've met many good friends there. =) Those in UK who reads this, do come for Nottingham Malaysian Society's Malaysian Night 2010!!!! More info on it later. The committee is still so new, that no website for the night has been set up yet.

I think partly also because I've lost my motivation. Kenny Sia, in my opinion, no longer blogs as he usually does. Now that he's become so famous, I think his blog has lost the sensation. I remember last time when I always follow his blog, as in really daily. First thing in the morning I do besides visiting the newspaper website, its Kenny Sia. My blog hero has moved on in life...how sad.

Hopefully I will resume blogging as usual? Pray hard people!!!
Overloaded with work!

I will be blogging lesser nowadays due to high volume of workload. So full of work, I don't know how to finish them. Sometimes feels like just burn down the whole Coursework Submission office...then don't have to hand in...gosh...

Still misses the weekend the Londoners headed over to Notts. It was fun! One the most fun days I've had in Nottingham. But I won't be blogging bout that weekend, Voon Yuan has done a great job on it. See it here. Dec Dec!!! Hahaha.

Also, will be heading to Austria and Hungary from 11th Dec to 21st Dec. Holiday!!! A thing I think I miss the most now! Ha~ Hopefully got snow over there...if not...I'll be very sad =(
